Shannon McMullin
My name is Shannon, and I am a Master of Social Work intern at this practice. I primarily have experience in working with adults. However, I look forward to meeting with people of a variety of ages, backgrounds, and experiences in my role at this practice. My intention in this role is to provide support and tools to assist individuals in accomplishing their therapeutic goals. I have attended trainings in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge of different therapeutic interventions and modalities.
My Story
Shannon graduated from a Southwest Michigan high school in 2009 where she developed a passion for psychology. This evolved into a passion for mental health. She has lived in various locations in West Michigan since graduating high school. Shannon started working in the mental health field in 2016. She earned an Associate of the Arts degree from Grand Rapids Community College in 2018. Prior to graduating with her Bachelor of Social Work degree, she worked in technician roles in both residential and inpatient mental health facilities.
She completed an internship with an area agency on aging in the supports coordination department while attending Grand Valley State University. In 2021 she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree with a minor in psychology from Grand Valley State University. As a social worker she has experience in mental health crisis services and community mental health. She currently has her limited license for her Bachelor of Social Work degree. Shannon is a student at Western Michigan University where she is pursuing a Master of Clinical Social Work degree. While attending this university she has also been pursuing a specialization in trauma across the lifespan. Her anticipated graduation date will be in the Summer of 2023.
