MIND BODY SOULUTIONS
AN INDEPENDENT COUNSELING GROUP

Faith Thornton
Western Michigan University
In my practice, I take a client centered approach, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet the specific needs of each individual client. My undergraduate degree in psychology and my professional experience in the school setting has given me a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and supporting individuals through various life stages. I integrate holistic practices to address the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - while creating a warm and supportive environment through empathy and compassion. My goal is to challenge clients to take the next step toward healing and growth while also ensuring that they feel heard and empowered.

My background includes experience in a psychiatric hospital supporting individuals of all ages with a wide range of mental health needs, as well as a prior internship at a community mental health clinic. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, which has given me a passion for exploring the mind-body connection and the diversity in human behavior. I’m deeply curious about people’s stories and the ways we navigate the complexities of being human in today’s fast-paced world. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their emotions, relationships, and life stressors without judgment. I’m passionate about helping others connect with their authentic selves, find meaning in their experiences, and cultivate a sense of balance and well-being in their lives.

As a clinical social work intern, I am passionate about building genuine and trusting relationships with everyone that I work with. I believe that meaningful change starts with feeling seen and heard. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a respect for everyone’s unique story. I have a special interest in working with children; helping them to identify, understand, and express emotions in healthy ways. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to walking alongside each person as they navigate life and grow into their strengths.

As a seasoned professional in the field of strategic communications, I built a long and fulfilling career helping clients achieve their professional and corporate goals through human-centered design. Over time, life presented an opportunity to realign my career with my core values – and I’m now honored to be pursuing a Master of Social Work at Western Michigan University. Through both personal and professional experiences, I’ve witnessed the transformational power of therapy for individuals and groups. I’m deeply inspired to one day offer that same support – walking alongside clients as they work toward vibrant, meaningful, and emboldened lives. I am especially drawn to therapeutic approaches rooted in person-centered, existential, and somatic frameworks. These modalities reflect my belief in the healing power of relationship, insight, and embodiment, while also engaging creative and evidence-based practices. My long-term goal is to earn my LMSW certification and work collaboratively with a team of skilled practitioners who prioritize relational or experiential-based psychotherapy in both group and individual contexts. I recognize that stepping into therapy takes courage – an act of vulnerability and strength – and I honor every person who chooses to engage in this process. I believe we all carry innate strengths, and sometimes we need just the right support to remove barriers standing in the way of deep healing. We were not meant to walk this journey alone – and therapy offers a safe, supportive space to grow, heal, and thrive.
